Company History

Friend Lumber Company was incorporated in June 1945 by James J. London and Ralph H. Robb. Mr. Robb passed away in the early 1950’s and his interests were purchased by Mr. London. We were primarily a business that assisted contractors and builders until the second generation of ownership entered the business. In April of 1991, our retail store in Lowell was opened. Paul A. London and his brother-in-law Sheldon Jaffe managed the business and opened a second store located in Burlington Massachusetts during July of 1972. The company prospered and the third generation and current owner, Mark Jaffe became involved in 1974. In the time period between January 1st 1992 and December 31st, 1995, Mark purchased the other family member’s interests and moved the Lowell branch to its present location in Hudson, New Hampshire.
