Decking

At Friend Lumber Company, we recognize the importance of a well-built deck.  We want your new deck to be the center of your family’s outdoor life.  It is where you enjoy the New England spring, summer, and fall beauty, and where your friends and family gather to enjoy time together.

Let our Project Pro’s assist you in planning the ultimate deck. From the beginning of the process we will walk you through our various displays and allow you a chance to investigate the great quality of our decking options. Our experienced experts can bring their knowledge to help create the concept that is perfect for your home.

Take advantage of our free design program in which our Project Pros can help create your dream deck into reality.

Composite Decking

If near-zero maintenance is your goal, then this is the material for you. Composite Decking is made mostly from recycled plastic and wood chips or sawdust. It’s more expensive than a wood deck, but once it’s down, it won’t rot, splinter, or twist. Additionally, the color change is even. Since composite deck material is defect free, you can use every inch. Maintenance is easy and involves spraying the deck off with a hose.

Wood Decking

At Friend Lumber Company, we also recognize the traditional beauty of wood decking.  Let our experts show you the various qualities of mahogany, fir, and knotty cedar.  We can assist you in finding the wood grain and natural coloration that fits your desired look. We are happy to assist in answering any questions regarding installation, maintenance, and wear and tear of the wood deck products we carry.

Pressure-Treated Decking

For economy and longevity go with pressure-treated wood. It’s stainable, hard enough to resist abuse, and many brands carry a lifetime (though limited) warranty. But beware, not all treated woods are created equal. We always suggest our customers buy “choice,” “premium” or “select” treated boards. The boards have fewer knots and straighter grain. And, since many of the higher grade choices are kiln-dried both before and after pressure treatment, they have less tendency to warp.

At Friend Lumber Company, we not only recognize the importance of sturdy deck boards but can ensure the quality of the railings to complete your deck. Let our Project Pro’s walk you through our displays and discuss all of our options. We offer luxurious-yet-affordable railings in classic colors that complement any deck design that offers an easy installation process that’s perfect for the DIYer.
